Musings about fun between my legs

Overwhelmed!

On February 6, I spent several hours composing and sending an email out to a first group of friends, from my bicycle foundation colleagues, and my church “sisters”. I asked for their support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, as I ride across the Southern Tier. Over the next 10 days, as time permitted, I sent emails to others, biking friends, to family, to those on our Christmas card list, more than 100. I mailed snail mail letters to others who don’t have email.

I have truly been overwhelmed by the generosity and the words of encouragement. Yesterday, I received a notice from LLS that I had achieved my goal of $3,100 – and the donations have continued. Needless to say, I am going to increase my goal.
Asking for money is not my favorite thing to do – it seems awkward and embarrassing. But with the results I have received in these two weeks, I realize that “boldness” isn’t bad. People do care – for each other, for those suffering and ill. And the faith that friends have placed in me, to complete this bicycle dream, is truly an incredible incentive to ride strong each and every day.

Thank you all so very much.

And just in case you are reading this and haven’t donated, here is the link to my fundraising website.
